Criminal Justice Minor

The Minor in Criminal Justice at Sul Ross State University International provides students from all academic disciplines with a strong foundation in the study of crime, law, and the justice system. This program is designed to complement a wide range of majors by offering insight into the social, legal, and institutional responses to crime and justice in contemporary society.

The minor requires 18 semester credit hours in Criminal Justice coursework:

Required Courses (6 SCH):
- CRIM 1301 Introduction to Criminal Justice
- CRIM 4304 Criminology
Elective Courses (12 SCH):
Students must take 12 additional hours of CRIM courses, including at least 9 hours of upper division (3000 or 4000 level) CRIM courses. For these 12 hours, students should consult with a Homeland Security and Criminal Justice faculty member.

This program prepares students to broaden their understanding of justice while developing skills valued across various professions. A minor in Criminal Justice can enhance career opportunities in fields such as sociology, psychology, education, social work, law, political science, business, computer science, and beyond.
