Anthropology, MA

The northeastern Chihuahuan Desert, including the Texas Big Bend, contains one of the best-preserved and dynamic records of human history in North America. This two-year Master of Arts program in Anthropology at SRSU provides students with a background in anthropological theory, field methods, and research that can be applied anywhere in the US by leveraging the rich cultural resources preserved in the greater Big Bend. Student research is conducted in collaboration with the Center for Big Bend Studies (CBBS), the research arm of the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Students who successfully complete their MA degree will be poised to enter the work force as the next generation of cultural heritage scientists, or to continue their education toward careers in museum curation, forensics, or the academy. This MA program complements the focus on conservation and habitat management at SRSU, producing students who are better informed to meet the diverse challenges of implementing effective programs across disciplines.
