tudents may choose between a 30-hour General MBA and a 36-hour Global MBA. The Global MBA offers 9 emphasis areas: Global Management, Finance, Marketing, Information Technology, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Management, Aerospace and Defense Industry Management, and Space Commerce. In addition, students have the option to earn micro-credentials in the form of certificates embedded certificates in the programs. Certificates are great marketing tools for students in today’s world, allowing evidence of skill acquisition for employers or potential employers along the way to finishing the degree. Students will achieve stackable micro-credentials in Strategic Business Analytics and Reporting, Advanced Financial Strategy and Control, and Marketing Dynamics and Economic Decision Making.

Program Requirements
General MBA core requirements: 24 credit hours General MBA electives: 6 credit hours Global MBA core requirements: 24 credit hours Emphasis Area requirements: 9 credit hours* Restrictive electives: 3 credit hours *Healthcare Management, Space Commerce, and Supply Chain Managementr require 12 hours in the emphasis area and no elective. The major core is common to all MBA options and required for all MBA students. General MBA
The General MBA is a 30-semester-credit-hour degree designed to prepare individuals to understand, interpret, and successfully respond to the dynamic and complex environments of regional, national, and global enterprises, both in the private and public sectors. The General MBA is comprised of the 24 hours Major Core Requirements above and 6 hours of electives. Restrictive Electives: 6 Credit Hours

The 36-hour Global MBA will prepare students for numerous job opportunities in the globally driven Texas economy. Students must choose one of the following emphasis areas. Global Management
If Texas were an independent nation it’s economy would be the 8th largest in the world, larger than Russia or Canada. Texas leads the nation in foreign trade, direct foreign investment, and home to the most Fortune 500 corporations. The Texas economy is a global economy and the global trend to business onshoring the supply chains will only increase the role of Texas in the global economy. Emphasis Area Requirements: 9 Credit Hours

Students must choose a graduate business elective from the list below to meet the 36 hour requirement. Entrepreneurship and Family Business
The MBA in Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise will provide students who desired to spend their careers in the borderlands region that Sul Ross serves with the knowledge and skills to create and management the family enterprises that are so essential to the economic prosperity of the region. Emphasis Area Requirements: 9 Credit Hours

Texas is home to more Fortune 500 corporations than any other state, and it leads the nation in the number of new jobs in the financial-services sector as firms move to Texas to benefit from its expanding economy. The increased trade with Mexico resulting from the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement has resulted in an increase in demand for individuals with finance skills in the border region served by Sul Ross State University. The MBA in Finance will prepare students for the expanding job opportunities in the Texas financial services industry. Emphasis Area Requirements: 9 Credit Hours

The successful management of an organization’s information technology is critical in today’s global economy. Decision makers require the rapid delivery of accurate information to maximize an organization’s performance. The emergence of artificial iIntelligence, data mining, and the increasing speed of the decision cycle requires organizations to efficiently manage their information-technology systems. The MBA in Information Technology Management will provide graduates with the skills needed to ensure their organization’s information-technology systems are on the cutting edge of technology. Increasingly, marketing professionals are in demand to serve the growing Texas economy. The increase in trade with Mexico resulting from the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement has also resulted in an increase in demand for individuals with marketing skills in the border region served by Sul Ross State University. The new MBA in Marketing will prepare Sul Ross students for the expanding marketing job opportunities in the growing Texas economy. Emphasis Area Requirements: 9 Credit Hours

Students must choose a graduate business elective from the list below to meet the 36 hour requirement. Aerospace and Defense Industry Management
The MBA in Aerospace and Defense Industry Management will provide students with the skills they need for success in the aerospace industry. The dynamics and structure of the global aerospace industry will be covered with an emphasis on the trends that are shaping its future. Students will learn the process of government contracting, the various markets for aerospace systems, and the challenges of managing in the aerospace industry. Emphasis Area Requirements: 9 Credit Hours
Restrictive Electives: 3 Credit Hours
In order to reach the 36 credit-hour requirement students will need to take 3 semester credit hours of 5000-level courses in the ACCA, ECOA, FINA, GBAA, MISA, MGTA, or MKTA prefixes. Healthcare Management
The MBA in Healthcare Management provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to be managers in the healthcare industry. The program is especially designed for individuals seeking career advancement by providing them with the skills needed for administrative and management positions. Students will learn about the challenges of managing in the constantly changing healthcare environment. Emphasis Area Requirements: 12 Credit Hours
The Healthcare Management emphasis area requires 12 semester credit hours in required courses. Space Commerce
The MBA in Space Commerce provides students with the skills and knowledge they need for careers in the space economy. They will learn about the dynamics of the modern space economy along with the numerous opportunities in its various segments including communication satellites, remote sensing, launch systems, human space flight, robotics, sustainable space habitats, space-based solar power, and the recovery of space resources. Students will also learn about the laws and regulations that govern activities in space and the challenges of managing an enterprise in space. Emphasis Area Requirements: 12 Credit Hours
The Space Commerce emphasis area requires 12 semester credit hours in required courses. Supply Chain Management
The Supply Chain Management emphasis area allows students to pair their specialized knowledge and skills gained through the core MBA curriculum with the advanced business concepts, technologies, and tools of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. Emphasis Area Requirements: 12 Credit Hours
The Supply Chain Management emphasis area requires 12 semester credit hours in required courses. Total Hours: 36

The embedded micro-credentials are offered as certificates in three different subject areas: Advanced Financial Strategy and Control, Marketing Dynamics and Economic Decision Making, and Strategic Business Analytics and Reporting. Embedded certificates consist of 6 hours in the core subject, followed by a 1-hour examination course designed to assess the student’s mastery of the subject matter. This certificate acknowledges that students have mastered the skills of managerial accounting and finance in business. Marketing Dynamics and Economic Decision Making
This certificate acknowledges that students have mastered the skills of marketing and economics management. Strategic Business Analytics and Reporting
This certificate acknowledges that students have mastered the skills of research and reporting and quantitative analysis for decision making in business. |
