BS Kinesiology and Human Performance Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)
- Students will engage in a study of core foundational theories and progressive content knowledge through study in the core Kinesiology course basis for all five concentrations which consists of 8 courses. Through this study, students will demonstrate written comprehensive competency and practical application on core Kinesiology theories in the following courses: KINE 1301 - Introduction to Physical Fitness and Sport; KINE 3301- Structural Kinesiology; KINE 3302- Motor Development; and KINE 3305 - Physiology of Exercise.
- Through integrative and applied learning, Sul Ross graduates in Kinesiology and Human Performance will apply their sub-disciplinary knowledge and demonstrate appropriate levels of independence and judgment necessary for successful employment or further schooling. Integrative learning is an understanding and a disposition that a student builds across the curriculum and co-curriculum, from making simple connections among ideas and experiences to synthesizing and transferring learning to new, complex situations within and beyond the campus. Demonstrated through the application of knowledge, skills, and responsibilities to new and familiar settings and through addressing complex problems in Kinesiology-related areas. Students must quantify student internship experience in the form of a student portfolio that will be presented to KES 4360- Practicum in Kinesiology.
- Students will utilize critical thinking to evaluate curriculum material and then effectively communicate essential theories, scientific applications, oral and ethical considerations relevant to their Kinesiology program specialization. Practiced extensively, across the Kinesiology curricula, in the context of progressively more challenging problems, projects, and standards for performance including the following courses: KINE 2340 Principles of Athletic Coaching; KINE 3312 Foundations of Adapted PE and Sport; KINE 3334 Contemporary Health Problems; KINE 4364 Fitness Testing and Exercise Prescription; and KINE 4311 Test and Measurements.
