The Master of Science in Sports Administration (SAP) at Sul Ross State University is a fully online graduate program designed to prepare students for leadership roles within athletic and sport organizations at the community, educational, and professional levels. With a focus on quality instruction, research, professional development, and real-world application, the program equips graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in sport administration, academia, and higher education teaching opportunities.

Students in the SAP program will explore both historical and contemporary issues in the field, develop an understanding of the research process, and embody the program’s mission and objectives within the sports industry.

This 30-hour fast-track program is structured to accommodate working professionals and individuals aspiring to advance their careers in sports-related fields. Courses are delivered in an accelerated eight-week format, with students recommended to take two courses per session, completing four courses per semester. The program culminates in a six-hour practicum, providing hands-on experience in a professional setting.

MS Sports Administration Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)

  • Students in the M.S. Sports Administration program will demonstrate content knowledge in group dynamics and leadership theory, facilities and operations management, public relations and marketing, and legal and professional aspects of this career field.
  • Students in the MS Sports Administration program will be able to demonstrate application of career-readiness through collaboration, communication, critical thinking skills, and creativity.
  • Degree candidates in MS Sports Administration program will promote authentic learning, social and emotional development, and a commitment to social justice in their field.
