Geology, BS, Composite Science Certification

The curriculum provides a solid background in geology and has been designed following guidelines from national geological organizations. Required courses cover broad areas of Earth processes, Earth history and stratigraphy, mineralogy and petrology, as well as structural geology and tectonics

This degree leads to a composite science teacher certification with an emphasis on earth sciences, physical sciences, and life sciences.

BS Geology Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)

  • The student will be able to apply a diverse body of Geologic information in the area of Earth history.
  • The student will be able to apply a diverse body of Geologic information in the area of mineralogy and petrology.
  • The student will be able to apply a diverse body of Geologic information in the area of structural geology and tectonics.
  • The student will be able to apply a diverse body of Geologic information in the area of stratigraphy.
  • The student will be able to apply a diverse body of Geologic information in the area of field techniques.
