Program Description

The Department of Education has a variety of programs for students seeking degrees and TEA SBEC certifications for K-12 schools in Texas, and other graduate programs that offer professional licensure or enhance careers inside and outside of the education field.

For students interested in becoming a classroom teacher, degrees include a BS in Education that leads to EC-6 and 4-8 certifications and a non-certification pathway. The teacher education program also works closely with other SRSU colleges and departments offering a minor or concentration in Education for students seeking secondary or all level teacher certification with a

major outside of the College of Education. For example, if a student wanted to be certified to teach 7-12 Mathematics, they would major in Mathematics, minor in Education.

Graduate level degrees include Master of Education offerings in:

● Counselor Education - with or without TEA School Counselor Certification and/or LPC preparation

● Educational Leadership - with or without TEA Principal Certification

● Educational Diagnostician - with TEA certification

● General Education

● Educational Technology

In addition, we offer three programs for students with an existing master’s degree or higher seeking a TEA certification only program: School Counselor, Principal, and Superintendent.

Further information on program requirements, applications, certification and testing processes can be found on our website: https://srinfo.sulross.edu/education/
