The College of Education consists of the following departments:
Education
The College of Education has a variety of programs for students seeking degrees and TEA SBEC certifications for K-12 schools in Texas, and other graduate programs that offer professional licensure or enhance careers inside and outside of the education field.
Degrees and programs include a BS in Education: EC-6 and 4-8 certifications, and a non-certification pathway. The College also works closely with other SRSU colleges and departments offering a minor or concentration in Education for students seeking secondary or all level teacher certification with the major outside of the College of Education. An examples would be: Major in Mathematics, minor in Education. Completion of the degree, culminating in the Student Teaching semester and needed certification testing leads to a 7-12 Mathematics teaching certification.
Graduate level degrees include Master of Education offerings in:
- Counseling - Clinical Mental Health or TEA School Counselor certification
- Educational Leadership - with or without TEA Principal certification
- Educational Diagnostician - with TEA certification
- General Education
- Educational Technology
In addition, students with an existing master’s degree or higher may be interested in a TEA certification only (non-degree) program route. Sul Ross offers these two programs: School Counselor, and Superintendent. Note: the Superintendent certification program requires previous teaching experience and principal or mid-management certification.
